Oakland

Campbell S. O'Neill - President

Campbell began his career with Mason-McDuffie Co. in 1971 after graduating from Armstrong University in Berkeley, California. He started in the income property loan department as an intern and worked in loan closing and loan administration when Mason-McDuffie Co. was a full service western states real estate company with 1,200 employees. He completed income property inspections and performed underwriting and analytical work until he became the chief underwriter and a partner in 1979. In 1982 he co-founded Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation which continued the income property mortgage banking activities of Mason McDuffie Co. He has been involved with joint ventures, property management, loan origination, loan servicing and administration, and income property acquisitions. He co-founded Summit Savings Bank in 1984. In 1989, when Mason-McDuffie Financial had thirty-five employees, he was elected president. In 1991 he also earned an appraisal certification and acted as an appraiser for some of the commercial loans. In 1998 he earned a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation which recognizes an individual's superior knowledge, understanding and competency in the residential and commercial mortgage banking industry.

Kennon J. Brokaw - Vice President, Regional Manager

Ken has over 25 years of Mortgage Banking experience and has been employed with Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation since 1985. His responsibilities include the origination of commercial mortgages for institutional clients, as well as managing the production Offices of Oakland and Walnut Creek. Ken has been active in the Bay Area Mortgage Association (BAMA) for many years and has held numerous offices including President in 1992-93. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Ken received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a special emphasis in real estate. Prior to joining Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation, Ken was with Moore Mortgage in Denver, Colorado.

John Lenahan - Vice President, Loan Officer

John has been with Mason-McDuffie since 1977. Prior to his association with Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation he was employed by a savings and loan association and a bank holding company in Los Angeles. John is a graduate of Stanford University and has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of California, Los Angeles. He has taken numerous courses in real estate through the Mortgage Banker's Association (MBA) and is a long time member of the Bay Area Mortgage Association (BAMA). John has been involved in all forms of real estate finance during his career with Mason-McDuffie Financial, including life insurance, conduit, joint venture and construction financing. He strives to represent both lender and borrower to the highest professional and ethical standards.

James W. Sterling - Vice President, Loan Officer

Jim has more than 30 years of experience in commercial mortgage banking, conduit and construction lending, and property management for institutional investors. He started his career with a mortgage banking firm in Portland, Oregon, and over the next ten years produced loans for that firm in San Jose, California, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Seattle, Washington. As a Senior Vice President and Regional Manager with Imperial Bank, he managed the origination of large loan portfolio construction and permanent loans and handled the development, leasing and sale of REO properties in Northern California. Jim also has experience with a conduit lender originating loans throughout the West, and he oversaw the management of two million square feet of industrial and R&D space for a San Francisco area developer. He joined Mason-McDuffie Financial in 2000 to originate and underwrite loans for its institutional investors. Jim graduated from Willamette University in Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration in Finance from the University of New Hampshire. He is a member of the Bay Area Mortgage Association.

Sam Hayes - Loan Officer

Sam joined Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation in January of 2006 and works in the origination of commercial mortgages. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration with an option in Finance from California State East Bay. Sam is a licensed real estate broker and is an active member of the Bay Area Mortgage Association. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Hiller Highlands Association, and is continuing his real estate education with classes and personal investments.

Walnut Creek

Kelli Pinto - Vice President, Loan Officer

Kelli has been providing financing in the greater Bay Area commercial real estate industry for 20+ years, originating income property loans for local developers. As a direct lender with INTERVEST-Mortgage Investment, Kelli originates construction and bridge/interim loans ranging from $3 million to $100 million. Through Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation / INTERVEST, Kelli works with several exclusive correspondent life insurance companies to provide permanent, non-recourse financing. Prior to joining INTERVEST, she was with Bank of the West's Commercial Real Estate Division in Walnut Creek where she originated construction, bridge and mini-perm loans. She has held similar positions with California Bank and Trust, and U.S. Bank.

Chris Duffek - Vice President, Loan Officer

Chris has been in commercial banking and mortgage origination since his career began in 1984. After several years with money center banks, Chris was a real estate lender for Tokai Bank and Bank of the West. Chris specializes in construction and interim loans for commercial property. He enjoys value-added real estate projects, as well as loans on historic and atypical properties. Chris likes to be involved at the early stages of a construction project. He feels his experience and positive attitude contribute greatly to the success of the venture.

Sacramento

Gary Mattozzi - Vice President, Regional Manager

Gary Mattozzi is a long-time veteran of commercial property financing in the Sacramento area market. Prior to joining Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation / INTERVEST, he was with GE Capital for 17 years where he provided long-term permanent loans to owners of various types of commercial properties throughout California and Northern Nevada. Gary originates construction, interim and permanent loans for developers, contractors and commercial property investors on most types of commercial properties, including multi-family, retail, office and industrial. He has specialized in commercial real estate finance since 1972 and has held a California Real Estate Broker's license since 1975. Gary graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Economics. His postgraduate studies include courses in real estate finance and law at San Jose State and Santa Clara University.

Brian Cooley - Loan Officer

Brian joined Mason-McDuffie Financial Corporation / INTERVEST in 2007. He has been in commercial real estate lending (construction/permanent) for three years. Prior to joining Mason-McDuffie, he spent two years during the real estate boom in Las Vegas as a Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Management, as well as industry credentials as a Certified Commercial Credit Analyst and Certified Commercial Loan Officer from the Western Independent Bankers Association. Brian has continued his education with course work in income-producing properties. He currently originates commercial real estate loans for A&D, construction, bridge and interim financing, take-outs, and permanent loans for the purchase or refinance of income-producing properties.
